Week 6 wrapped up with a Monday Night Football game between the San Francisco 49ers and Washington Commanders that saw Brock Purdy make NFL history early on. Coach Kyle Shanahan's San Francisco 49ers opened up a 20-3 halftime lead at Levi's Stadium on a day when general manager John Lynch raved about Purdy's time in a red and gold uniform so far and the Monday Night Football crew spoke about analytics vs. gut feel.
Announcer Joe Buck made a reference to Shanahan's longtime reliance on his gut as head coach, which prompted a wild anti-analytics take from his partner in the broadcast booth, Troy Aikman.
“There's a lot of gut feel (among coaches) in this league, and there's a lot of gut feel that he uses in spots like this,” Buck said ahead of a fourth-down play that Shanahan decided to roll the dice on.

The play happened on fourth-and-three from the Commanders' 11-yard-line in a 7-3 game with 5:42 remaining in the first quarter.
