The Oklahoma City Thunder are addressing their depleted roster following significant injuries to Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace, with the organization planning to sign veteran guard Ochai Agbaji to fill its 15th roster spot.
The move comes after Oklahoma City suffered its first loss of the 2026-27 NBA season Wednesday night, falling 120-96 to the Dallas Mavericks.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported the Thunder's plans Friday via X, formerly known as Twitter.
“The Oklahoma City Thunder plan to sign Ochai Agbaji, league sources told @hoopshype. Agbaji has averaged 7.2 points in four NBA seasons with the Utah Jazz, Toronto Raptors, and Brooklyn Nets. Agbaji was most recently with the New York Knicks in training camp.”
Agbaji, a former first-round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, provides Oklahoma City with additional depth as the organization navigates an increasingly difficult injury situation.

Thunder add Ochai Agbaji amid Jalen Williams, Cason Wallace injuries

Oklahoma City's decision comes after Williams and Wallace suffered potentially season-ending injuries during Sunday's victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.
Article Continues BelowWilliams sustained a dislocated left ankle and fractured fibula, while Wallace suffered a torn labrum in his left shoulder. Both players require surgery and are expected to miss several months, potentially the remainder of the season.
Their absences have created significant challenges for the Thunder's rotation, particularly with both players contributing on opposite ends of the floor.
Although Agbaji cannot directly replace their combined production, his experience provides head coach Mark Daigneault with another perimeter option.
The Thunder entered Wednesday undefeated before Dallas handed them their first defeat.
Oklahoma City will attempt to rebound Saturday when it visits the Houston Rockets (5-0) at 8:30 p.m. ET on NBA TV, with Agbaji's expected addition offering some relief to its injury-depleted roster.
