Match of the Day fell below their high editorial standards as Thomas Frank offered no analysis on Tottenham Hotspur.
That's the view of talkSPORT host Paul Hawksbee in response to the former Spurs boss' lack of comments on the struggling side.
Frank was part of the Match of the Day panel on Saturday night with host Kelly Cates and ex-Premier League defender Ashley Williams.
The last set of highlights came from the 0-0 draw between Spurs and Everton, in which the former went goalless for a fourth straight league match at the start of a season for the first time ever.
Everton midfielder James Garner was selected as the standout player, with both Frank and Williams complimenting his performance at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
But Frank, who was on the show seven months after being sacked by Spurs, did not assess the display shown by his former employers.
Hawksbee, a passionate Spurs fan, took issue with what he deemed to be a curious absence of punditry and revealed his belief that the Dane may have opted out of commenting on the club.
"There seemed to be a real odd abdication of responsibility on Match of the Day the other night," he said on Hawksbee and Jacobs.
"Thomas Frank was in the studio, and Tottenham v Everton was last. It wasn't a thriller, but there is a story there... it seemed to be the story everywhere else on planet Earth, that Tottenham haven't scored, another game they haven't scored.
"So what they did at the end of Match of the Day, was do an in-depth look at James Garner and his performance, and they never involved Thomas Frank at all.
"They just said to Ashley, 'James Garner was good, wasn't he?' He said, 'Yes, he was', and they showed a few bits.
"He did play well but (Jarrad) Branthwaite, I thought, was their best player, I thought he was brilliant. A, if you were going to single anybody out, it would have been him.
"And B, I just thought Thomas Frank had said, 'I don't want to talk about Spurs, especially the way it's going'... well, don't be a pundit then!
"I'm sure they will say that wasn't the case and they've been waiting for weeks to do the James Garner deep dive.
"I sat there and thought, 'Thomas Frank is on, I'd be interested to know what he says'. It was just a cop-out and, editorially, they're better than that."
What happened to Frank at Spurs?
A hugely successful spell at Brentford that included promotion to the Premier League boosted Frank towards a 'Big Six' job, which arrived at Spurs in June 2025.
He arrived as the successor to Ange Postecoglou, who just guided the club to their first trophy in 17 years by winning the Europa League.
However, Frank lasted just under eight months in the head coach role and was dismissed after a 2-1 home loss to Newcastle.
The 52-year-old won just seven of his 26 league matches at Spurs and was winless across the last eight of his spell.
Spurs eventually finished 17th for a second consecutive season and only secured their survival on the final day.
Frank was later named as a pundit for the BBC during their coverage of the 2026 World Cup.
He was then announced as one of four new pundits on their famous Match of the Day show for the 2026/27 campaign.
