Nov. 2: Cubs 'badly want' Skubal (report)
There will be no shortage of suitors for the top player available in this year's free-agent market. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand recently listed six clubs that could be in the running for Skubal. There likely will be others.

Any team would love to have a two-time Cy Young Award winner who is in his prime on its roster. According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, one team -- the Cubs -- "badly want Skubal."

Chicago has to rebuild its rotation this offseason as Shota Imanaga, Matthew Boyd, Kevin Gausman, David Peterson and Colin Rea are all free agents. Clay Holmes could join them on the open market if he declines his $12 million player option for 2027. Per ESPN's Jesse Rogers, the Cubs will "entertain almost anyone" when it comes to starting pitching. But Skubal appears to be at the top of their list.

Oct. 29: Skubal now a free agent
After the Brewers put the finishing touches on their first World Series title Wednesday night, free agency is now underway.

Skubal is the crown jewel of this year's free-agent class, and MLB.com's Mark Feinsand took a look at the two-time Cy Young Award winner's potential market right here.
