The Minnesota Vikings continued their undefeated streak in Week 7, defeating the Indianapolis Colts 16-10. It was a low-scoring game, and that should come as no surprise when defensive coordinator Brian Flores is involved. He made life hard for the Colts, but it was a specific player on the team who had the stats to back it up. When the players realized what Blake Cashman was doing on that side of the ball, they almost lost it.
“They put 12 tackles, two sacks, four pass deflections and three hurries up there, and you’re, like, ‘Holy s—,’” Brian O’Neill said via Alec Lewis of The Athletic.
Cashman was everywhere on the field in Week 7, and he did about everything he could do. It's something that his teammates aren't too surprised about, because they believe what he does goes under the radar at times.
“I don’t think he always gets the credit he deserves outside this area,” Harrison Smith said. “But he’s one of the best doing it right now.”
It was a big game for Cashman, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he continued doing this for the Vikings as the season goes along.
Against the Colts, they continued to blitz at a high rate, putting pressure on Daniel Jones to get the ball out quickly to make a decision. In the end, they made history for how much pressure they sent at him, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert.
Article Continues Below“Vikings blitzed Daniel Jones on 85% of his dropbacks, the highest rate for any NFL team in the past 20 seasons, per ESPN Research,” Seifert wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
What the Vikings are doing on defense is almost unheard of, and it's the main reason they're still undefeated. If the offense could find more of a rhythm, they'd seriously be one of the most dangerous teams in the league.
