The Texas football team got back in the win column on Saturday, by defeating Ole Miss 34-27. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian liked what he saw from his quarterback, Arch Manning. Sarkisian wants Manning to continue playing with confidence.

“One thing I know about Arch Manning is he's a fighter. I like the kind of edgy, borderline arrogant, full of swagger Arch,” Sarkisian said about his quarterback, per On3.

Manning and his Texas team had just lost a tough SEC conference game to Florida. Manning admitted he was deeply emotional following that loss. He used that pain as motivation to help his team against Ole Miss.

Sarkisian said Manning responds well to all the pressure that comes with being a Manning.

“His world, his life is different than anyone else's I've ever been around in this sport. But he keeps coming back,” Sarkisian said, per On3.

Texas is now 5-2 on the season after defeating the Rebels. The Longhorns badly needed the win. Texas is trying to reach the College Football Playoff, and a loss on Saturday may have ended their chances of getting into the field.

Texas still has work to do. The Longhorns won on Saturday despite making a lot of mistakes. Manning turned the ball over, and the Longhorns racked up the penalties.

“I would be the first one to tell you we were not perfect tonight,” Sarkisian said, per the Associated Press. “We had an opportunity to be closer to perfect, but we get sack, fumble, they get a touchdown, they get momentum.”

Manning was still able to make the plays needed to help his team win.

“As much or more than anything, his resolve, his grit, his mentality was important for the team,” Sarkisian said, per On3.

Texas is next in action on Saturday against Mississippi State. The Longhorns now hold a 2-2 conference record.
