Texas football made another claim that they are the top team in the nation on Saturday. The Longhorns took a 20-17 victory on the road over Tennessee. In the contest, the Texas defense got to Tennessee quarterback Faizon Brandon ten times. After one of the sacks, Colin Simmons decided to celebrate by pantomiming the act of urination on the field.
It was a phenomenal game for Simmons, who had nine tackles, 5.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. Despite the poor choice of celebration, his play on the field has him climbing NFL Draft boards, including the ClutchPoints' 2027 NFL Mock Draft provided by Tim Crean.
The latest mock draft has Colin Simmons going fifth overall to the Los Angeles Chargers.
“‘Simulating using the restroom' was not a good look for Colin Simmons, but 5.0 sacks against Tennessee allowed scouts to overlook that. Between the Texas pass rusher’s performance in that game and Dylan Stewart’s meltdown against Alabama, Simmons has cemented his spot as the first EDGE off the board,” Crean wrote.

He has been a constant presence in the backfield since stepping onto the gridiron for the Longhorns. Now in his third season, Simmons has already racked up just 28.5 sacks along with seven forced fumbles.
While Simmons goes off the board at number five, he is not the first player from Texas to be selected according to the mock draft. That honor goes to quarterback Arch Manning, who goes first overall to the Miami Dolphins. Offensive tackle Trevor Goosby follows Simmons, going sixth overall to the Atlanta Falcons. Meanwhile, Cam Coleman is the fourth player selected from Texas in the top 15, as he is picked by the Houston Texans at the 12th overall position.
All four stars will not be in action this Saturday, as Texas has an off week before facing Oklahoma on October 10.
