With the Houston Texans taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, England, on Sunday, the team will be deploying its new weapon in the form of Marvin Harrison Jr., acquiring the wide receiver from the Arizona Cardinals. As Harrison makes his debut for the Texans in the AFC South matchup, head coach DeMeco Ryans would give his initial impressions of how the former first-round pick has been acclimating to his new team.
After Houston traded a 2027 second-round and seventh-round pick to Arizona for Harrison and a 2027 sixth-round selection, he's looking to build a rapport with star quarterback C.J. Stroud and add to the Texans' offense. So far, he has been in stride, as Ryan echoed the sentiment to Sky Sports.
“I see a renewed sense of confidence,” Ryans said in an interview with Sky Sports, posted by Jordan Schultz on X, formerly Twitter. “I see Marvin seeing that he knows that we really wanted him. We know that he'll have a good rapport with C.J. [Stroud] and the guys. I mean, his first couple days, just seeing him interact with all of the guys on the team has been really special to watch, and he fits in instantly.”

How the Texans will utilize Marvin Harrison Jr. to start
Article Continues BelowHarrison is also looking for a fresh start after an underwhelming stint with the Cardinals, having been selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Currently in his third NFL season, he has recorded five catches for 85 yards and a touchdown through four games, looking to improve with Houston.
“We'll get him rolling this week. We'll try to get him a handful of plays, whatever he can handle,” Ryans continued. “But he's fit in very well, and I hope he knows that he's wanted here. He's well thought of. We just want him to go be himself, fly around, and be the playmaker that he's always been.”
The hope to live up to his talent with the Texans will start on Sunday in a crucial game against Jacksonville in London, as the team has a 1-4 record so far this season.
