The Los Angeles Rams will have to wait longer for tight end Terrance Ferguson to return from an ankle injury, adding to the team's growing list of injury concerns. Ferguson is not expected to be ready when he first becomes eligible to leave injured reserve ahead of the team's Week 8 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old's recovery is expected to “take some time,” according to Schefter, meaning the second-year tight end will miss more than the minimum four weeks on injured reserve. Los Angeles placed him on the list before Week 4 after he suffered an ankle sprain during the Week 3 loss to the Denver Broncos.

Ferguson appeared in the Rams' first three games of the 2026 season, recording seven receptions for 63 yards and one touchdown on 12 targets. He was expected to contribute to the team's offense through multiple personnel formations, but his continued absence leaves Los Angeles without one of its emerging receiving options.

Ferguson's delayed return comes as the Rams deal with several other injuries. Veteran wide receiver Davante Adams has been placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury and is expected to miss six to 10 weeks. Los Angeles has also lost defensive end Kobie Turner to an injury that will keep him out for some time, while nose tackle Poona Ford and kicker Blake Grupe have been ruled out for the remainder of the season.

The team is also waiting on veteran edge rusher Myles Garrett, who is not ready to return, and the Rams will not open his three-week return window yet.

With Ferguson unavailable, Tyler Higbee is positioned to serve as Los Angeles' primary receiving tight end, while Colby Parkinson and Davis Allen are also expected to contribute at the position.

Ferguson entered the season after garnering 11 receptions for 232 yards and three touchdowns across 14 regular-season games as a rookie in 2025. His absence, combined with Adams' injury and the team's other setbacks, leaves the Rams waiting for reinforcements before Sunday's game with the Chargers.
