Syracuse quarterback Steve Angeli is expected to start on Saturday against North Carolina, according to On3's Pete Nakos.
Angeli has not played since suffering an injury in the Orange's Week 3 loss to Pittsburgh. His return comes as Syracuse deals with significant problems at quarterback. Malachi Nelson is recovering from an ankle injury, while Amari Odom has also undergone surgery.
Across three appearances this season, Angeli has completed 57 of 104 passes for 731 yards, four touchdowns and five interceptions. He has been turnover-prone, with five interceptions and just one touchdown versus California and the Panthers.
Syracuse enters the matchup against the Tar Heels under pressure after failing to secure an ACC win this season. The Orange have not defeated a Power Four opponent since Angeli guided them to a victory over Clemson last September. With three more losses potentially leaving Syracuse ineligible for a bowl game, his performance will be pivotal to the team's remaining campaign.
North Carolina's offensive woes could give the Orange an opportunity to gain ground. The Tar Heels rank 14th among 17 ACC teams in scoring, 15th in rushing and 14th in passing. Quarterback Billy Edwards Jr. averages 210 passing yards per game and has seven touchdowns against five interceptions in games against Power Four opponents. He has completed 59.9% of his passes and been sacked 13 times.

The Orange will travel to Chapel Hill to face the Tar Heels, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on ACC Network.
