As expected, the recent Sydney Sweeney nude sports betting ad for Novig caused a stir, as the Euphoria actress received some harsh feedback from female Olympians who found it to be a “kick in the face” of women athletes.

Reigning Olympic champion Ariarne Titmus reacted to the video on Instagram (via Deadline), and she was “infuriated” watching it.

“Not only is it a kick in the face to every woman who has dedicated her life to perfecting her craft, but every woman who enjoys sports for what it really is — teamwork, friendship, dedication, excellence, unity,” Titmus wrote. “How do we live in a rowld where monetising a woman's body and sexualising women's sport is still a thing?”

An American gymnast named Gracie Kramer posted a montage that showcased her athletic abilities. She wrote, “Idk what Sydney Sweeney was doing, but this is what a woman in sports looks like,” over it.

One way or another, Novig's provocative ad has started a conversation. It is the latest of Sweeney's commercials to go viral after her American Eagle ad and her stunt covering the Hollywood sign in her bras from her lingerie line.

Last week, Novig shared a new commercial starring Sweeney. She posed nude while participating in a variety of sports. Sweeney started the commercial by asking, “Think you know sports?” while holding two footballs that covered her chest.

Naturally, the commercial caused a stir. She repeatedly says the word “sports” while being shown baring all in a variety of sports equipment.

Sweeney is best known for her roles in Euphoria, The White Lotus, and Anyone but You. She also starred in the Christy Martin biopic, Christy, in 2025.
