On Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers opened up their season with a relatively comfortable home win over the Atlanta Falcons. While the Steelers' offense didn't exactly blow anyone away, the defense was solid in this one, taking full advantage of Atlanta's dire quarterback situation to largely shut down the Falcons' offense.

Not in uniform for this game was Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr., who sat out despite being healthy as he looks for a new contract, which has prompted numerous trade rumors as the new season gets underway.

Now, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter has stopped by The Pat McAfee Show to give the latest update on those rumors.

“I think a lot of people were surprised that Joey Porter Jr didn't play yesterday.. The two sides are in a difficult spot where they're trying to find a common ground and they haven't come close to doing it yet.. The Steelers have been open to listening to trade offers.. So far for what they would want back there has not been a lot of trade interest,” said Schefter, per Pat McAfee on X, formerly Twitter.

It's unclear what exactly the Steelers' specific asking price is, but clearly, they will have to lower it if they want to find a suitable trade partner for the disgruntled star.

Porter Jr. is one of the better players on the Steelers' defense, but he began sitting out practices in training camp due to both a back injury and his discontent at not having a new contract offer. Porter Jr. was healthy enough to play on Sunday vs. Atlanta but ended up sitting out as the stalemate continues.

The Steelers will next hit the field on Sunday on the road vs the New England Patriots.
