The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to take on the New Orleans Saints for the NFL Paris Game on Sunday. Whether Rico Dowdle will suit up to play is still up in the air.
Per Pro Football Talk, the Steelers designated Dowdle as questionable as he deals with a knee injury. Dowdle had missed three games due to a toe injury, but he finally made his return against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week. Dowdle had 40 yards on seven carries as the Steelers needed overtime to beat the Baker Mayfield-less Bucs, 26-19. He also added three catches for nine yards.
Dowdle signed with the Steelers on a two-year, $12.25 million contract during the offseason after back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers. In three appearances for the Steelers this season, Dowdle has racked up 77 yards in 22 carries along with 37 receiving yards from seven catches.
Article Continues BelowWhile Dowdle was out, Jaylen Warren stepped up as the workhorse back for the Steelers. He's picked up 460 rushing yards with one touchdown. Moreover, he also one of the team's top receivers, with 258 receiving yards on 21 receptions. But even with Dowdle's return to the lineup, Warren saw his touches remain the same; he finished with 50 rushing yards on 14 carries against Tampa Bay.
If Dowdle is healthy enough to play in France, the Steelers will look to exploit a Saints run defense that has been quite porous this season. New Orleans has given up the third-most rushing yards to date at 828, while their 11 rushing touchdowns allowed is the most in the league.
