Jaylen Warren let his performance do most of the talking before delivering a pointed response to Cleveland’s pregame trash talk. Following the Pittsburgh Steelers’ dominant 27-6 victory over the Browns on Sunday, the running back brushed aside Jared Verse’s verbal shots at Pittsburgh’s offensive line. Warren had a five-word reminder that football is settled on the field.

Jaylen Warren says the Steelers “didn’t really pay attention” to Jared Verse’a trash talk this week

“Some walk, some talk.”

“Yeah, but we really didn’t pay attention to it,” Warren told reporters. “You know, some walk, some talk.”

Verse had reportedly spent the buildup to the AFC North showdown challenging Pittsburgh’s offensive front and predicting Cleveland would take over the Steel City. Warren and the Steelers answered emphatically. They controlled the trenches and produced 200 rushing yards as a team. Warren led the charge with 143 yards on just 17 carries. He averaged 8.4 yards per attempt while adding a third-quarter touchdown. Verse, meanwhile, finished with one tackle and a quarterback hit as Pittsburgh repeatedly found room to run.

The performance continued what has been an impressive 2026 campaign for Warren. Through eight weeks, he has emerged as the engine of Pittsburgh’s offense. He has provided physical downhill running, dependable third-down contributions, and valuable support for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. His earlier 127-yard outing against Cincinnati offered a glimpse of his potential. Sunday's demolition of Cleveland, though, was arguably his strongest statement yet.

The victory marked Pittsburgh’s fourth consecutive win. They completed a perfect October and improved Mike McCarthy’s squad to 6-2. The Steelers now enter their Week 9 bye holding sole possession of first place in the AFC North. For Warren, the message was simple: talk is cheap when the opposing defense cannot stop the run.
