The San Antonio Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama continues to prove his alien genes on a weekly basis in the NBA, and this time, the Minnesota Timberwolves find themselves on the receiving end. The Spurs hosted Minnesota at the Frost Bank Center on Saturday, with Wembanyama arriving to the game dressed as Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher series.
The entertainment continued at the start of the second quarter as Wemby set himself up for an off-the-glass dunk with almost ten minutes on the clock, per a post on X by ClutchPoints. He initially received the ball from Stephon Castle and found himself surrounded.
However, he initially pretended to rise up for a jumper before chucking the ball at the glass and setting himself for the return, and slamming it in. Wembanyama then raised his arms in celebration as the Spurs attempted to return from a 34-28 first quarter.
Wemby was on a tear right from the start of the game and already had 21 points towards the end of the second quarter, along with four rebounds and two assists. De'Aaron Fox had 10 points and four assists while Julian Champagnie had nine points. The Spurs were trailing at 61-57 at the end of the quarter, with the Timberwolves being led in points by Ayo Dosunmu in the absence of Anthony Edwards.
Dosunmu had 14 points while Jaden McDaniels had 13 points and an assist, with both Bones Hyland and Jaylen Clark adding six points off the bench. The Spurs entered the game 3-2, having lost their first two games of the season and then finding resurgence.
Minnesota, meanwhile, returned to winning ways against the Los Angeles Clippers last time around after back-to-back losses against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. The Timberwolves had rushed back to 61-60 and finished the first half with a one-point lead, and will be looking to complete their second win on the run. Unless, of course, Wemby has something to say about that!
