Brad Keselowski is free to negotiate with other NASCAR teams for the 2027 season after reaching a verbal agreement Saturday with RFK Racing that ends his management responsibilities and clears the way for his eventual ownership exit.
The 2012 Cup Series champion said Saturday at Martinsville Speedway that he has several possibilities for 2027, although he has not secured a ride for next season.
"There are a number of opportunities in front of me in the Cup Series for 2027 and beyond," Keselowski said. "There's no doubt about that."
Keselowski, 42, will remain a passive investor in RFK in the short term but will no longer serve on the organization's governing board or in its competition department. He said he intends to sell his 20% stake in the team.
The agreement also frees Keselowski to negotiate with other teams and manufacturers across NASCAR's national series.
RFK announced in September that Keselowski would leave the No. 6 Ford after the season when his five-year driving contract expires.
Keselowski had envisioned remaining with the organization as both a driver and competition leader, but RFK wanted him to transition more quickly toward a management role. Keselowski said Saturday that the disagreement was not adversarial, but the sides could not agree on a long-term plan.
He joined the organization before the 2022 season as a driver and minority owner, with his name becoming part of the rebranded RFK Racing.
Keselowski said remaining in the Cup Series is his priority but left open the possibility of competing in the Truck Series. He already owns championships in the Cup Series and what is now the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series.
"I'm certainly not ready to retire or walk away in any means from this sport," Keselowski said.
Keselowski has 36 career Cup victories but is winless since May 2024 at Darlington.
