The WNBA playoffs are in action at the moment, but one of the biggest storylines is swirling around a player's team that has already been eliminated from the postseason. A recent article for The Athletic called for the Indiana Fever to move on from Sophie Cunningham. The title of the story reads as follows: “Fever should part with Sophie Cunningham. She's too turbulent to be paid with Caitlin Clark.” On her podcast “No Hesitation,” Cunningham responded to the article.

“That's why I literally don't even care what anyone says about me anymore,” Cunningham said. “I've said this so many times, if you're going to live by the praise you're going to die by the hate. The majority of these people have never picked up a ball in their entire lives. And they're just thirsty to have attention or be relevant in some type of way.

“No matter what anyone says to me, I'm gonna continue to do me. I know what I bring to the table, it's not always in the stat-sheet. And so for you to not say I'm effective or any of that, whatever, suck it.”

Cunningham also talked about topics related strictly to basketball on her podcast. However, she did feel the need to at least give some sort of response to the article.

There are plenty of opinions about Sophie Cunningham. Some fans absolutely love her. Others, let's just say, are not her biggest fans. Regardless of one's opinion on the WNBA veteran, the reality of the situation is that she is more effective on the floor than some may be led to believe.

In 22.2 minutes per game this past season, she averaged 7.9 points on 46 percent field goal and 41.9 percent three-point shooting off the bench. Cunningham's critics may fail to mention that she was fifth in three-point percentage in the WNBA this past year.

It will be intriguing to see if the Fever re-sign Cunningham. She is going to be a free agent, so Indiana could indeed decide to move on. Or, the Fever may make the decision to bring her back. Only time will tell.
