Shardul Thakur will miss Mumbai's Ranji Trophy third-round game against Haryana at the BKC complex at home, starting Monday, as well after sitting out the first two rounds because of an injury.
Mumbai's squad is unchanged from the one that defeated Himachal Pradesh in Bilaspur with a bonus point in the previous round.
Thakur sustained the injury to his right middle finger while training before the opening round. It turned out to be a fracture and the initial update was that he was going to miss at least the first two rounds.
The Mumbai camp was hoping at the time that Thakur would recover for the third game but he isn't match fit yet. He has been training with the Mumbai squad and was also present at a Major League Baseball event in Mumbai on Saturday evening with Suryakumar Yadav.
While he recovers, Thakur will also do commentary for some of the T20Is India are currently playing in New Zealand.
Thakur was last in action in the Duleep Trophy quarter-final for West Zone against North Zone in late August. In that game, the out-of-favour India allrounder picked up one wicket in 14 overs of bowling and scored 10 runs in his only hit (he was unbeaten on 0 without facing a ball in the second innings) as North Zone won by 54 runs.
Mumbai will have to continue to pick from a depleted line-up, with new vice-captain Ayush Mhatre out with a hamstring injury and Yashasvi Jaiswal in New Zealand, where he will play the Tests after the ongoing 'A' series.
Opening batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi and allrounder Suryansh Shedge had joined the squad as reinforcements before the second round.
Mumbai are currently top of Elite Group D with 14 points.
