Shaquille O'Neal has built a business portfolio nearly as imposing as his basketball legacy. His latest move takes him into cybersecurity through a global partnership with NordVPN.

The company named Shaq its newest ambassador as part of a campaign centered on making online protection less confusing. Under the slogan “Go big on your online protection,” the partnership will span at least 12 months and include an autumn event in New York City.

Shaq said he chooses partnerships with companies he trusts and believes NordVPN can make cybersecurity easier for everyday users to understand. He also stressed that online scams have become tougher to recognize, making caution increasingly important before opening links.

The collaboration arrives as NordVPN pushes beyond the service most consumers associate with its name. The company launched a new antivirus product earlier in 2026 that operates inside its app and targets malware, phishing schemes, and other scams before they reach a device.

NordVPN says its technology reviews 12 million different web addresses per day and prevents access to roughly 130,000 harmful pages. During the opening half of 2026, it also stopped close to 5 million malware attacks in the United States.

The company reported blocking more than 4.4 million phishing connections, with 99% of those attempts copying only 300 recognizable brands. Its tools have also intercepted almost 29,000 fraudulent calls and alerted over 525,000 people to suspected spam calls.

NordVPN chief marketing officer Toma Sabaliauskiene said Shaq brings credibility, strength, and accessible humor to the campaign. That personality gives the company a familiar face as it attempts to show consumers that serious digital protection does not need to feel overwhelming.
