The Ottawa Senators have reportedly struggled to sign Drake Batherson to a new contract. Batherson, one of Ottawa's most important players, is entering the final season of his deal. With the new collective bargaining agreement taking hold soon, there was some pressure to try and get something done.

It appears as if that will be getting done. Batherson is reportedly closing in on a new contract with the Senators, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Monday night. The exact terms are unknown, but Friedman claimed it would be “the largest contract in franchise history.”
