The Seattle Seahawks may finally be getting a much-needed boost in the backfield. Zach Charbonnet took a major step toward returning to action ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. According to ESPN's Brady Henderson, Charbonnet was a full participant in Wednesday's practice for the first time since opening his practice window on October 1. The development marks a significant milestone in his recovery from a torn ACL suffered during Seattle's previous playoff run.

Charbonnet had remained limited on every injury report since beginning his return-to-practice process. That makes Wednesday's upgrade an encouraging sign for head coach Mike Macdonald. However, the running back must still be officially activated from the Reserve/PUP list before he can play. His potential return comes at a critical time for a Seattle team sitting at 3-3 after consecutive heartbreaking losses to the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos. The Seahawks managed just 74 rushing yards against Denver. Costly backfield fumbles contributed to their defeat against San Francisco. Charbonnet's physical running style and dependable receiving ability could provide the balance Seattle's offense has sorely missed. That said, his availability for Sunday remains unconfirmed.
Charbonnet's 2026 season has so far been defined by rehabilitation rather than production. After tearing his ACL during Seattle's Super Bowl LX championship run, he began the campaign on the Reserve/PUP list and missed the team's first six games. The Seahawks still needs to complete the activation process. Their coaching staff must clearly determine whether he is ready for game action. With the ground game struggling to find consistency, Charbonnet's comeback could arrive at precisely the right moment for the defending champions.
