The Seattle Seahawks are working collectively to move past their disappointing Week 3 loss to the Washington Commanders. As they prepare for their upcoming matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, the team received an encouraging update regarding safety Julian Love.
The Seahawks returned to practice on Wednesday, and the positive development was Love's return to the field. However, the veteran safety was limited during the session as he continued working his way back from injury.
Love suffered a calf strain during Thursday's practice, forcing him to miss Seattle's Week 3 matchup against Washington after missing practice. His return to practice, even on a limited basis, provides optimism that he could potentially be available when the Seahawks face the Chargers in Week 4.
Love opened the 2026 season with an impressive performance. During Seattle's Week 1 matchup against the New England Patriots, he played every defensive snap, recording six tackles while helping hold Patriots quarterback Drake Maye to a 54.9 passer rating.
Article Continues BelowAcross his two games this season, Love has recorded nine tackles and two interceptions. His presence in Seattle's secondary remains particularly important to Mike Macdonald's defensive system, especially with backup safety Ty Okada continuing to miss time.
Okada has been sidelined for all three games so far against the New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals, and Commanders after pulling his hamstring right before Week 1. Having not returned to the field in any capacity yet, his availability for the Chargers game remains in serious doubt.
However, alongside Love, George Holani and Jadarian Price, Jarran Reed and Leonard Williams, and Grey Zabel were also limited participants in Wednesday's practice. Only full participants were Nick Emmanwori, Rashid Shaheed, and Brandon Pili.
