The November 10 trade deadline is quickly approaching as the contenders and pretenders are starting to become a bit clearer. With the Kansas City Chiefs back on top of the league, speculation is growing that the club could make a big move to help its Super Bowl aspirations. One name stands out amongst the crowd for Russell Wilson, as he believes the front office should make a deal with the New York Jets for Garrett Wilson.
While sitting down with Kyle Long on “NFL on CBS,” the former pro quarterback claimed that Wilson would be a smart all-in move to give Patrick Mahomes a vital weapon moving forward. Wilson explained every reason why adding the 26-year-old wide receiver would be a great move for the Chiefs.
“I'm just telling you, if I'm the Kansas City Chiefs, I got the All-Star running back in the backfield in Kenneth Walker, which we've never had before,” Wilson began… “And guess what that does? That play action opens up, right? What Mahomes does arguably better than anybody in the world is throw the ball down the field.
“So, if I'm thinking about this, who would I go get? I'm gonna go get Garrett Wilson,” the ex-quarterback proclaimed. “If the Jets keep losing, I'm gonna go get Garrett Wilson from the New York Football Jets because I believe that Garrett Wilson, down the field, with his ability- he's a smart guy; he learns quickly- he'd be great in the Andy Reid style of offense… [The Chiefs] haven't had a receiver like him.”

The five-year veteran signed a four-year, $130 million contract extension with the Jets in the 2025 offseason. He's played six games so far this year, recording 35 receptions for 418 yards and three touchdowns. Wilson has been a solid contributor despite New York owning a 2-4 record going into Week 7.
With the Chiefs undefeated so far (5-0), the possibility of the franchise being buyers by the trade deadline is a realistic scenario. The next several weeks of football will help determine how the deadline plays out in early November.
