Agent Drew Rosenhaus spoke about receiver Tyreek Hill’s prospects before Tuesday’s civil verdict finding him responsible for two counts of battery and directing him to pay $500,000. Since the verdict, Rosenhaus has spoken again.
“Nothing is imminent at this time,” Rosenhaus told ESPN regarding Hill. “He’s continuing his rehab with the goal of being on a team in the immediate future.”
There’s no reason to believe anything will happen, especially not imminently. Who would sign Hill in the aftermath of a jury finding that he committed two instances of domestic battery?
Also, the Personal Conduct Policy makes paid leave available in a broad range of situations. With a jury finding that Hill committed domestic battery, the league may not be inclined to let him play as the internal investigation continues.
Hill would likely prefer that outcome, especially if he needs more time to get himself back to 100 percent. If he signs with a team and is placed on paid leave as his recovery continues, he’d eventually get credit for games missed (games in which he wouldn’t have played anyway) if/when a suspension is imposed.
Regardless, it’s hard to imagine anyone doing anything any time, especially in the wake of Tuesday’s verdict.
