It appears that Reed Sheppard is embracing the Nacho Libre comparisons after the Houston Rockets star made a move on social media to prove it.

Sheppard has changed his profile picture on Instagram to a photo of Jack Black as Nacho Libre. It's great to see him embracing the memes.

It isn't hard to see the comparisons. Sheppard now has curly hair and a mustache, which Black's character also had. Maybe he will try his hand at professional wrestling to fully commit to the bit. At the very least, he already has a ready-made Halloween costume.

Nacho Libre is a 2006 comedy that follows Ignacio (Jack Black), a Catholic friar and lucha libre fan. He starts wrestling in order to raise money for the orphanage he works at.

Sheppard is heading into his third season with the Rockets, who drafted him in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft out of Kentucky. During his collegiate career, he was named SEC Freshman of the Year and Second-team All-SEC in 2024.

In his rookie season, he played in 52 games and started three. He only averaged 12.6 minutes per game, scoring 4.4 per contest. His role expanded in his second season, playing in all 82 regular season games (and starting 21 of them). He averaged 13.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.

The Rockets made it to the playoffs in his second year. They went down 3-0 to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round before rebounding, winning the fourth and fifth games of the series. However, they were blown out by 20 points in Game 6, ending their season.

Now, the Rockets are locked and loaded for another playoff push. They still have star players like Kevin Durant, Alperen Sengun, and Steven Adams. The team also added Marcus Smart in the offseason.
