He shot 10-of-16 from the field, 2-of-3 from three-point range and 8-of-11 from the free-throw line. With the performance, the 38-year-old became the oldest player in league's history to score 30 or more points in a season opener.

Jabari Smith Jr. matched Durant with 30 points on 11-of-17 shooting in 36 minutes. Each scored 16 points in the first half.

Houston shot 56% from the field, made 16 3-pointers and scored 29 fast-break points, going 12 of 14 on those attempts. Dallas committed 21 turnovers. The victory ended the Rockets' eight-game opening-night losing streak.
