To say Davante Adams had himself a game for the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2 against the New York Giants is a massive understatement.

Taking the field under the Monday Night Football lights without Puka Nacua on the opposite side of the SoFi turf, Adams put on a show for Los Angeles' home opener, catching eight passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns as he showcased his elite connection with Matthew Stafford.

Discussing what he saw from Adams on Up & Adams, Rob Gronkowski was impressed by what he saw from the veteran receiver, comparing his release to vintage Gronk from his playing days in New England and Tampa Bay.

“All right Devante Adams has an unbelievable release. When you're that quick off the line of scrimmage, that's what gets him open. Yes, he's a complete wide receiver, and he knows how to get open down the field and throughout the whole entire route, but what really makes Devante Adams special is that release, and when you have that release, you can get open right away. It's kind of like myself, you know, that was one of my specialties down in the red zone, just having that down in the red zone, just having that explosiveness off the line of scrimmage that's why his slants are so good.

“That's why his fades are so good, and that's why he catches so many touchdowns because he has that quickness off the release, and it's kind of impossible it sets you up for success when you get in position and you position the DP to where you want him because of your release. And that's what makes Devante Adams so special. He's one of the best wide receivers of all time, definitely going to be a Hall of Famer.”

Excluding the obvious positional differences, Gronk is correct that when it comes to the end zone. Adams is an elite operator inside the 10, where he can get himself open with his feet regardless of what route is called for him. Fortunately for the Rams, they didn't need too much red zone action from Adams on Monday Night Football, as he was able to pick up long, field-flipping touchdowns with ease.
