But Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi confirmed on Monday that the Brazilian forward would play no part in the club's Carabao Cup third round clash away against Liverpool on Tuesday evening, live on talkSPORT 2.

Roberto De Zerbi gives update on Richarlison's playing future

"Nothing has changed," De Zerbi said.

The Italian added: "I said last press conference. I know what happened in the last 45 days.

"It's not right if I explained. It's not my behaviour, the relationship.

"The problem is between the player and the club. I stay within the club. It's coach and club together.

"At the start of this season I spoke to him many times to convince him to stay and he didn't want to. I can't go every day to pray for him to stay."

Richarlison's difficult summer at a glance

Richarlison pushed to leave Spurs this summer and looked set to seal an emotional return to Everton on transfer deadline day.

However, the deal fell through.

Richarlison was then in talks to join Brazilian club Vasco da Gama but he failed to agree personal terms.

With Richarlison unable to secure an exit to date, it's left him in a tricky spot until January, when the transfer window re-opens.

However, the 29-year-old has approached FIFA in an attempt to terminate his Spurs contract.

Should the case rule in his favour, Richarlison would then become a free agent, leaving him free to move wherever he chooses.

Richarlison's Tottenham career at a glance

Richarlison joined Spurs from Everton in July 2022 and has gone on to make over 130 appearances for the club.

In that time, the forward has registered 32 goals and 15 assists along with helping the club win the Europa League in 2025.

Richarlison finished as Spurs' top scorer last term, netting 12 goals across all competitions.

He has already featured once for the north London outfit this term, starting their Premier League season opener against Brentford.
