Broncos cornerback Pat Surtain II had to leave Sunday’s 24-14 loss after the kind of non-contact injury that gives rise to thoughts of long-term absences, but early word is positive about Surtain’s condition.

According to multiple reports, the initial belief is that Surtain avoided a long-term or season-ending injury. The Broncos called it an ankle injury on Sunday, but the exact nature of the injury is not known.

That should come into better focus after Surtain undergoes more testing on Monday. Those tests should also help determine how much time Surtain might miss as he recovers.

The Broncos also saw cornerback Riley Moss and wide receiver Pat Bryant leave Sunday’s loss with injuries, so there will be plenty to sort out on the health front as they move toward Week 5.
