The Tampa Bay Rays are preparing to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2026 World Series, and one reporter believes first baseman Jonathan Aranda could be a major difference-maker in the matchup.

Aranda has emerged as a key contributor to Tampa Bay's offense, helping the franchise secure its third American League pennant. Although stars such as Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero command considerable attention, the 28-year-old has established himself as another important presence in the lineup.

With Game 1 approaching Friday, his offensive production could prove valuable against Milwaukee's pitching staff.

MLB Network shared a clip on X, formerly Twitter, featuring Rays television reporter Ryan Bass discussing Aranda's importance during Wednesday's edition of MLB Central:

“I think Aranda is truly the secret weapon in this lineup that makes everything go. And Yandy gets a lot of attention, understandably so, with the eye black and the muscles … But Jonathan Aranda is truly, in my opinion, the purest hitter in this organization.”

"I think [Jonathan Aranda] is the purest hitter in this organization… he's going to be a nightmare for Pat Murphy and the Brewers to deal with."

Aranda's regular-season production supports Bass' assessment of his offensive importance. The Mexican-born first baseman hit .274 with 22 home runs, 92 RBI and 73 runs across 668 plate appearances in 2026.

His contributions also proved important during the Rays' American League Championship Series victory over the Cleveland Guardians.

After going hitless through the first three games, Aranda broke out in Game 4, finishing 3-for-4 with two RBI and two runs in a 7-3 victory that evened the series.

He followed that performance with two hits and an RBI in Game 5, helping Tampa Bay secure a 3-1 victory.

Aranda, Diaz and Caminero combined for six hits, four runs and five RBI during the Game 4 win, demonstrating the offensive production Milwaukee must account for throughout the series.

The Brewers, managed by Pat Murphy, will host Game 1 at American Family Field on Friday after securing home-field advantage with MLB's best regular-season record.

Neither franchise has won a World Series championship, meaning the upcoming matchup will produce a first-time winner.
