The Boston Red Sox are expected to add a bat or two this offseason. While Boston would benefit from bringing in a starting pitcher with Sonny Gray entering free agency, the team's “priority” will be to add a hitter to the middle of the lineup, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports. McCaffrey mentioned outfielders Randy Arozarena and Seiya Suzuki as possible MLB free agency targets for the Red Sox.
Both sluggers would make sense for this Boston team. While the Sox already feature a number of right-handed hitters in the order, their overall power from the right side is a bit questionable. Of course, Willson Contreras is a slugger, and Trevor Story still has some pop in his bat. Nevertheless, having someone such as Suzuki or Arozarena join the lineup would only help the ball club.
Arozarena, 31, hit .281 with an .865 OPS and 26 home runs in 2026. He added 26 stolen bases. The veteran earned his third career All-Star selection as well. While Arozarena's strong season got overlooked at times due to the Seattle Mariners' extremely disappointing campaign, he still certainly had a big year.

The Red Sox play in a big market and have money to spend. Signing at least one of Arozarena or Contreras should be a feasible goal. Of course, it remains to be seen if either player is open to signing with Boston. If there is any level of mutual interest, it wouldn't be difficult to imagine a deal coming to fruition.
