With the Boston Red Sox preparing for the MLB playoffs in the coming weeks after putting the final touches on the regular season, the team will need all the offense it can get, as the recent activation of Willson Contreras comes at a good time. However, it has been a bizarre time for the Red Sox star in Contreras after his actions during a rehab assignment, with the injured list activation coming at an interesting time.

After Contreras seemed to give up on a plate appearance after the umpire didn't allow him to put more pine tar on his bat, he would toss his bat towards home plate as a form of protest. The next day, Boston is bringing back Contreras before Sunday's outing against the Kansas City Royals, according to Christopher Smith.

“Willson Contreras will be activated from the IL before today’s Red Sox game. Anthony Seigler – who hurt his wrist yesterday – will be the corresponding move,” Smith wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
