One of the biggest storylines from this year's World Series is Freddy Peralta facing his former team. Peralta is expected to pitch in Game 3 of the Fall Classic back in Tampa Bay. Although the Tampa Bay Rays starter won't pitch in either of the first two games on the road against the Milwaukee Brewers, Peralta said he is hoping for an opportunity to pitch at his former home field later in the series.

“I would like to pitch here during the postseason,” Peralta said, via Rays reporter Ryan Bass.

The Rays were defeated by the Brewers 3-2 in Game 1 of the series on Friday night. Game 2 will also be played in Milwaukee before the series shifts back to Tampa Bay for three games. If Games 6 and 7 end up being necessary, they will be played in Milwaukee.

This series looks like it is going to be extremely competitive. Both ball clubs do the littles things well and find ways to win ball games. It would certainly not be surprising to see the 2026 World Series end up requiring six or seven contests.

If that happens, Peralta will probably get an opportunity to pitch at American Family Field. The Rays would go with other starters in Games 4 and 5, setting up a potential opportunity for Peralta to get the start in Game 6 or 7 — if those games end up being needed as mentioned.

For now, the Rays and Brewers are focused on Game 2 of the Fall Classic, while Freddy Peralta prepares for his Game 3 start back in Tampa Bay on Monday.
