The Baltimore Ravens sustained a huge early NFL Injury setback. Rookie wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane needed to undergo wrist surgery following his league debut versus the Indianapolis Colts. So Baltimore acted swiftly in working out veteran Brandin Cooks.
NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo confirmed that the longtime wideout indeed visited the Ravens. Baltimore placed the now 32-year-old in a series of drills to determine if there's a potential spot on the roster. Especially amid the obstacle involving Lane.
Cooks could be joining his seventh different NFL franchise. The Buffalo Bills represent his last league employer, suiting up for the franchise in 2025 following his in-season departure from the New Orleans Saints.
Cooks caught five passes for 114 yards while starting in two games for Buffalo. And he posted those numbers playing for the final Bills team led by former coach Sean McDermott, who got fired following the team's devastating playoff loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC's divisional round.
Cooks, though, has played two stints with the Saints. He launched his NFL career there in 2014 after landing at No. 20 overall in that draft class out of Oregon State. His others stops include the Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots and Houston Texans.
Baltimore looked explosive during its debut of new head coach Jesse Minter, rolling to the 41-23 rout of the Colts. The newly revamped Ravens offense totaled 506 yards including 202 rushing. Baltimore pivoted to Declan Doyle as Minter's offensive coordinator.
The USC standout Lane caught just one pass for 11 yards in limited action. Lane previously expressed his excitement for playing with Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry and company with ClutchPoints back on Sept. 10.
