Heading into Sunday's matchup against the Buffalo Bills, the Baltimore Ravens' quarterback dilemma looked resolved. Starter Lamar Jackson was set to return from injury in a matchup between preseason AFC contenders. However, by the time the game ended in a 36-10 loss for Baltimore, emergency quarterback Joe Fagnano was under center for the visitors. Now, as the Ravens face a short week with a Thursday Night Football tilt approaching, Fagnano is dealing with an ankle injury. According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport on X (formerly Twitter), Baltimore head coach Jesse Minter said Fagnano “has a chance” to play in a couple of days.
“#Ravens QB Joe Fagnano ‘has a chance' to be ready to play on Thursday, coach Jesse Minter told reporters,” Rapoport posted on Monday evening. “He’s dealing with an ankle injury.”
In addition to losing Jackson, likely for the season, number two quarterback Tyler Huntley also sustained a toe injury in Sunday's loss. Fagnano will likely start for the Ravens against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday night. Baltimore signed Austin Reed to their practice squad, as Jackson and another backup, Skylar Thompson, will be on the IR.

After the Thursday night matchup against Jacksonville, Baltimore will also host the Los Angeles Chargers following their bye week. The final four weeks of the season could determine the Ravens' season, as they play the Pittsburgh Steelers both home and away, while hosting the Cleveland Browns and visiting the Cincinnati Bengals. If Huntley and Fagnano can keep Baltimore afloat until then, a potential playoff berth could happen after all.
