Baltimore Ravens fans were left holding their breath Sunday after Lamar Jackson exited their 24-18 victory over the Tennessee Titans at halftime and was later seen leaving M&T Bank Stadium in a walking boot. The two-time MVP quarterback is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday, according to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter. Baltimore now looks to determine the severity of the ankle injury that forced him out of an otherwise dominant performance.

Jackson completed 15 of 20 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns before halftime. He helped Baltimore build a 21-10 advantage. Tyler Huntley stepped in and helped preserve the victory. However, Jackson’s postgame appearance in a protective boot immediately shifted attention toward his health. Head coach Jesse Minter offered an optimistic assessment afterward. Meanwhile, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that the team initially believes Jackson is day-to-day pending further testing.

Through four games, Jackson has been operating at an MVP-caliber level. He has led Baltimore to a 3-1 record. He opened the season with 324 passing yards in Indianapolis then helped deliver a 34-31 international victory over Dallas. Jackson then dominated Tennessee before his injury. His chemistry with Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman, combined with Derrick Henry’s power, has made Baltimore’s offense particularly dangerous.
For now, the Ravens can only wait. The initial signs are encouraging, but Monday’s MRI could determine how dramatically Baltimore’s season changes.
