Texas Tech fans say they found a Colorado playbook in the team's hotel before Saturday's game against the Raiders, but Joey McGuire says he never saw it. On3's, Pete Nakos did a report on the story following Colorado's 29-7 loss to Texas Tech that dropped them to 2-3 on the season. RedRaidersSports.com is a forum owned by On3.

When Nakos reached out to McGuire to ask about the incident, the Texas Tech coach said that he hadn't seen the document and joked that he “would have pitched a shutout” if he did.

The RedRaidersSports.com user, who goes by VivaTerlingua, posted the claim about Colorado's obtained playbook on On3's Red Raiders message board.

“OK I’m not posting pics of it but a bunch of us are in the Colorado team hotel at the bar and we found a 25 page or so playbook that I would bet large amounts of money on is the actual CU playbook. It’s got opening plays, red zone info, our tendencies, etc., etc,” the user posted.

Another user who described himself as a friend of the group that found the playbook then shared an Instagram post showing it. X user @lubbockist compared the pages in that post with the plays Colorado ran on its first-half offensive drive and the first few snaps of its second-half drive, and the two matched.

Nakos contacted Colorado for comment. Per the report, the school declined to respond. Nakos also spoke with VivaTerlingua, who remained anonymous. He said he became convinced the play sheet was real when he watched the opening of the game. He posted it to the forum early Sunday morning to back up his story after other users accused him of lying about finding it at the bar. He argued the playbook was too detailed to be a fake.

“It didn't even wind up making a difference in the game,” VivaTerlingua said. “The level of detail — it was like nobody would make this up. It was 25 pages. The level of detail was too great.”
