As the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson didn't come to an agreement on a contract extension before the regular-season opener on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, the franchise should be prepared to do so after the star quarterback's start to the year. While rumors will surround the Ravens and Jackson regarding the contract extension, it feels inevitable that one is coming, especially if his usual level of elite play keeps up.

In the first two offensive drives of the opener against the Colts, Jackson led Baltimore to two touchdowns, with the first being a vintage rushing score by the quarterback and the second belonging to running back Derrick Henry.

“It was a spectacular first quarter for Lamar Jackson,” Jamison Henley wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “He was 5-of-6 passing for 101 yards. Jackson also ran the ball twice for 21 yards, including a 5-yard TD. Jackson has the Ravens on the move again on the third drive of the game. Baltimore will start the 2Q at the Colts' 29.”
