The Dallas Cowboys absolutely need to get a win in Week 6. Dallas is attempting to fix their awful defense by any means necessary, including hiring more assistant coaches. Cowboys players also did their part, holding a players-only meeting to help right the ship.
Cowboys edge rusher Rashan Gary shared some of the big takeaways from Monday's players-only meeting designed to fix the defense.
“Just do our job, do our 1-11th, making sure everybody's on the same page and going throughout the week, making sure we create the right habits,” Gary said on Wednesday, per ESPN's Todd Archer. “And that's practice-wise in terms of understanding the offensive ID, understanding the language that we’re talking for the week, understanding what we see and where they want to attack us and just all being on the same page and everybody doing their job.”
Remember, the Cowboys made a ton of changes on the defensive side of the ball this offseason. Gary is not a long-term Cowboys veteran, but he is certainly one of the most trusted leaders in the locker room. At least on the defensive side of the ball.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has not been shy when talking about the defense either. He went on the radio this week and said quite a bit about Dallas' defense headed into Week 6. The Cowboys will try a little bit of everything to get more positive results. Defensive coordinator Christian Parker will move to the booth from the sidelines. Dallas will also look at using some different personnel on defense to try to spark some life in the unit.
Article Continues BelowChanging many different parts of their offense at the same time could be risky. But the Cowboys need something to change, and quickly, if they want to get their season back on track.
Next up for the Cowboys is a Week 6 matchup against the Packers on Sunday Night Football.
