Coach Sean McVay's Los Angeles Rams are heading into Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders with a 2-4 record and a host of questions amid a Puka Nacua injury scare. Fellow star Davante Adams is waiting on hamstring surgery, while star pass rusher Myles Garrett is battling back from left knee issue that required surgery.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport updated Garrett's status ahead of a huge football weekend, and it was good news for his eventual comeback.
“So I was told from Myles Garrett that it is likely he returns to practice next week, which I believe would be about seven weeks from the injury. So, could return Week 8…Actual good injury news for the Rams.”
The Rams ranked as the fourth-oldest NFL team heading into the season with an average age of just over 27 years old, behind the 49ers, Falcons and Steelers. Injuries have taken their toll on the Rams' stars, including defensive tackle Aaron Donald, Nacua and Adams.
Article Continues BelowStarting quarterback Matthew Stafford, now 38, has played in every game this season, passing for over 300 yards in four of them. Garrett is 30 years old and one of the NFL's best pass rushers when healthy, if not the best. He saw action in Week 1 against the 49ers but did not record a statistic.
Garrett's original injury timeline has been pushed back for weeks now, but the time appears to be drawing near when he will make his long-awaited return. The Rams need his pass-rushing and run-stuffing skills in the worst way, which could also help Donald to thrive when the moment finally arrives.
