Davante Adams understands the concern fans have about the Los Angeles Rams after their shocking loss to the San Francisco 49ers to begin the 2026 NFL season.

Los Angeles entered the campaign as Super Bowl contenders. They boast an elite offense and retooled the defense this past offseason. This includes landing Myles Garrett via trade and bringing legend Aaron Donald out of retirement.

However, their aspirations look more difficult than they hoped for. Even though Donald missed the game, San Francisco outmatched Los Angeles in convincing fashion throughout the Week 1 matchup in Australia.

Back home in the U.S., Adams reflected on the events that occurred in the opener. He's not stressing too much about it, emphasizing that the team will adjust and not make the same mistakes they made in Week 1 moving forward.

“Everybody’s freaking out, which I understand–we didn’t put together the greatest showing out there. But… you’re a fool if you think that’s what its going to look like every single week,” Adams said, per reporter Gary Klein.

What lies ahead for Davante Adams, Rams

Davante Adams and the Rams certainly have a lot of time to get back on track. The opening loss against the 49ers won't be the all-deciding factor on the team's campaign, but how they respond to the loss will be a clear indicator on their ceiling as a squad.

Adams stands out in an explosive attack that sees quarterback Matthew Stafford headline the show. Having Kyren Williams as the leading rusher, the receiving corps puts the spotlight on Adams and superstar Puka Nacua. It makes sense for Los Angeles to be in the contending conversation, but it will come down to their consistency with each passing week.

The Rams will look to bounce back in their next matchup, being at home. They host the New York Giants in Week 2 as kickoff commences on Sept. 21 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
