The Colts’ decision to fire General Manager Chris Ballard this week has spurred several questions about the future of the franchise.
Those questions include how active interim GM Ed Dodds will be when it comes to making moves ahead of the November 10 trade deadline. One of the players who has come up in discussions about trade options is left guard Quenton Nelson.
Nelson has made the Pro Bowl every year since the Colts made him a 2018 first-round pick and he’s made first- or second-team All-Pro six times, but he is in the final year of his contract and anything the Colts get for him could help the team’s rebuilding effort. On Wednesday, Nelson said that he loves being with the Colts and that his attention is entirely focused on helping the team on the field.
“I have no questions,” Nelson said, via Joel A. Erickson of the Indianapolis Star. “I leave that up to God, and I’m just focused on being my best and giving my absolute all every single day in everything I do, and putting it all out there on the field.”
Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner is another Colts veteran in the final year of his deal and his name is also likely to come up in trade chatter as teams gauge whether the Colts are looking to totally reboot a roster that Ballard put together.
