In what the announcers deemed a “could have been” Super Bowl matchup in 2025 and “could still be” in 2026, the Los Angeles Rams’ visit to the Denver Broncos delivered in magnificent fashion.
The Rams offence jumped out to a 16-0 lead before hitting a wall in the shape of the Broncos defence during the third quarter. Denver’s offence, after its third straight game with a slow start, caught fire in the second half and tied the game midway through the third quarter.
With crucial defensive mistakes from the Rams and a strong defensive performance of their own, the Broncos completed the comeback on Sunday night to win 30-26.

Rams build an early 16-0 lead

Davante Adams shone again, hauling in seven catches for 137 yards, while Kyren Williams served as the focal point of the game plan, totalling 158 combined rushing and receiving yards.
The tight end room was led by the longest-tenured Ram, Tyler Higbee, who caught eight passes for 62 yards and a touchdown.
Matthew Stafford looked timeless through much of the opening three quarters, throwing for 390 yards and two touchdowns. However, turnovers proved costly.
Stafford also became the NFL’s all-time leader in career pick-sixes thrown.

Broncos offence comes alive
The Broncos, in Davis Webb’s third game at the helm of the offence, struggled early but flipped the game in the second half.
Denver quarterback Bo Nix did it all, throwing for 158 yards and two touchdowns while also adding a rushing score.

Most notably, Pat Bryant’s touchdown and successful two-point conversion on back-to-back drives set up a new game late in the third quarter, tying the score at 16-16.

Denver defence turns the game
As Denver’s offence found its rhythm, the Broncos defence began to take control.
Two late penalties by the Rams defence allowed Denver to score a touchdown and take a four-point lead, leaving Los Angeles with little time to attempt a game-winning drive.
Denver’s defence also made its presence felt through turnovers.
A late fourth-quarter pick-six helped swing the game firmly in the Broncos’ favour before an interception as time expired ended the Rams’ final attempt at a comeback.
The Rams had produced almost 400 passing yards through Stafford, but Denver made the decisive plays when possession mattered most.
Broncos and Rams Turn Attention to Week Five
The Broncos will look to carry the momentum from this win into next week when they travel to San Francisco to face an undefeated 49ers team.
The Rams, meanwhile, will hope to have offensive star Puka Nacua and newly acquired pass-rusher Miles Garrett back when they travel to Philadelphia, where they will look to rebound in a rematch from the 2025 season.
