Manager Don Mattingly's Philadelphia Phillies failed to win the World Series after a solid regular season and have been urged to pursue two MLB stars in free agency. Mattingly's team's possible pursuit of Milwaukee Brewers closer Trevor Megill got a big update as fans began daydreaming about what President of Baseball Operations Dave Dombrowski and Vice President/General Manager Preston Mattingly might cook up this offseason.

The Yankees legend and Phillies manager Mattingly had choice words for an MLB Network host as he shared his thoughts on working under his son.

“Not really…I think I'm just tired of him being my boss,” Don Mattingly said when asked if he was tired of being asked questions about his son.

“When you don't take that pitcher out in the sixth, and then it doesn't go good, and then afterwards, you gotta listen to the questions from him and Dave, and I can just tell from the questions on his face, you should (have) taken him.

“It's really been a lot of fun, actually, working with Preston, Preston's sharp, I feel like I've learned a lot from him, the way he looks at things is sometimes different from the way I would look at it. But it's been interesting…It's been a lot of fun for me.”

The Phillies have big changes in store with MLB labor talks and Bryce Harper's playing status up in the air for 2027.

The Mattingly family will almost certainly be along for the ride as they seek to level up following an 88-win campaign in 2026.
