Penn State started slowly against Temple in Week 2. They missed a field goal on their first drive of the game and were down 3-0 in the second quarter. Rocco Becht was able to get the offense moving later. Becht would go on to throw for three touchdowns and Penn State came away with the victory.

Now, Becht is talking about the slow start against Temple and putting a positive spin on things, per Mark Brennan of Lions247.

“I thought it was a good game for us to have. I think to be humbled coming off a good win, coming out here and playing Temple, a good team, and we just started off a little slow,” Becht said. “We made the adjustments after the first quarter and at halftime. We were a lot better in the second half. But I think we needed this early before we get into conference play. So, it was a good game to have for all of us.”

Penn State is now 2-0 on the year, with a 45-0 win over Marshall to open the season. It is the second straight season Penn State has started 2-0. Penn State started 3-0 last year, before losing their next six games, all in conference play. The Nittany Lions are likely to move to 3-0 this year as well, with a game at home against Buffalo. They also have an easier start to conference play in 2026.

In 2025, the Nittany Lions faced a top-ten-ranked Oregon team. This year, they will host Wisconsin to open conference play.

Penn State is currently a top-25-ranked team and could make a run this year with a manageable schedule coming up.
