Bryce Young didn't look like himself in Week 8. His knee injury is the biggest reason why. It may be taking away one of the most important weapons in his game. Even Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales is no longer hiding that concern. Following Thursday night’s 27-19 road loss to the Green Bay Packers, Canales acknowledged that Young’s mobility has been affected by the lingering issue. This has raised questions about Young's ability to extend plays as Carolina enters a crucial stretch of its season.

According to The Athletic’s Joe Person, Canales admitted that Young’s “knee might be limiting him as far as mobility, extending plays.” The concern was evident at Lambeau Field. Young endured six sacks and finished 23-of-41 for 209 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Carolina’s offensive line struggled against Green Bay’s pressure. However, Young also appeared less capable of escaping collapsing pockets.
Young’s 2026 season has otherwise featured encouraging progress. Through seven starts, he has thrown for 1,921 yards and 13 touchdowns while helping Carolina reach a 3-4 record. His standout 329-yard performance against Detroit highlighted his growing command of Canales’ passing attack. Still, the knee issue threatens to undermine that development.

Carolina remains in the NFC South playoff conversation, but its ceiling largely depends on Young's health. Restoring his mobility could be just as important as improving the protection around him.
