The San Diego Padres recently clinched a spot in the postseason. They received unfortunate news on Saturday, however, as Casey Mize is dealing with a right ankle sprain. The Padres ultimately placed Mize — who was acquired at this year's MLB trade deadline from the Detroit Tigers — on the 15-day injured list.

In other roster moves, San Diego reinstated infielder/outfielder Gavin Sheets from the IL and optioned left-handed pitcher Kyle Hart. Additionally, the Padres announced that right-handed pitcher Alek Jacob cleared waivers and was outrighted to the ACL Padres.
