Green Bay Packers star linebacker Micah Parsons acknowledged Wednesday that he does not expect to immediately return to his All-Pro form following last year's ACL injury, admitting that his conditioning and physical limitations remain significant obstacles.
As the Packers (5-3) prepare for Sunday's Week 9 road matchup against the New England Patriots (5-3), Parsons offered a candid assessment of his recovery and expectations for the remainder of the season.
The Athletic's Matt Schneidman shared Parsons' comments Wednesday on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“I think it’s realistic (to play at an All-Pro level) and I think I’m going to have terrible plays,” Parsons said.
Parsons emphasized that while his performance might fluctuate, his effort and intensity will remain consistent as he works toward regaining his previous form.
“My conditioning right now is probably the worst it’s been in my career, you know what I mean? And that’s just the reality of it. Am I gonna go out there and play 50, 60 snaps how I was doing before? Absolutely not. It’s just not realistic. My body’s not there yet. I don’t even think my knee’s built for that yet. I didn’t go through training camp.”
The former All-Pro also acknowledged that returning to his previous level of production will require patience as he continues rebuilding his conditioning.
“So am I going to be the All-Pro Micah, the person that I once was, this year? Probably not until later, after I go through all my phases and things like that,” Parsons said.
Micah Parsons embraces challenges of ACL recovery with Packers

Despite his physical limitations, Parsons remains confident that he can contribute to Green Bay's defense while gradually increasing his workload.
He also expects to experience setbacks as he adjusts to playing football again after an extended absence.
“I think you’ll see flashes of All-Pro Micah when I get to pass rush, and there’s gonna be times when you’re gonna be like, ‘Dang, what was Micah doing?’ There’s gonna be times that I question myself, too. Like, what was I doing right there?”
Parsons explained that he is prepared to accept mistakes rather than allow them to affect his confidence.
“So I’m not ashamed of that. I’m not scared of seeing the failure of this thing because you gotta (understand) I just came back from an 11-month injury,” Parsons said.
His comments come as Green Bay looks to build momentum following its 27-19 Week 8 victory over the Carolina Panthers last Thursday.
With the Packers seeking their sixth victory of the season, Parsons' gradual return to form could provide an additional boost to their defense.
Green Bay will face New England on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET on FOX.
