The Green Bay Packers already have plenty to address on their makeshift offensive line. They cannot leave points on the board because of kicking issues. Fans will not tolerate it, anyway. Rookie Trey Smack is under heavy fire following his latest miss, which came on an extra point attempt in the first quarter of Thursday's home matchup against the Carolina Panthers. The manner in which it happened only evoked more frustration.
The sixth-round draft selection out of Florida doinked the ball off the uprights, eliciting a big reaction from legendary play-by-play man Al Michaels. “Oh me oh my,” he remarked after Smack failed to punctuate a 12-yard Tucker Kraft touchdown.
Cheeseheads were not as whimsical in their reactions. “Keeping Trey Smack in after every miss is like standing on the bottom of the Titanic watching water pour in and going ‘nah we’re good, just keep doing what we’re doing,'” @CodyCasper4 posted on X. “At this point, grab someone from the stands to kick it through the uprights,” @StoneColdHolly quipped. “We wasted a draft pick on Trey Smack.”
