Tyrese Haliburton knows better than most what it feels like to go down with a devastating injury on an NBA floor. So when Oklahoma City Thunder star Jalen Williams was stretchered off on Sunday night, the Indiana Pacers guard was quick to show his support.
Shortly after Williams’ injury, Haliburton took to X with a simple message for the Thunder forward.
“JDub 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼,” Haliburton wrote.
The scary moment came with just over a minute left in Oklahoma City’s 108-101 win over the Los Angeles Clippers at Paycom Center. Williams drove to the basket and was sandwiched in midair by Kris Dunn and Derrick Jones Jr. He lost his balance and came down awkwardly, with his left leg trapped underneath him.
Thunder trainers covered Williams’ lower leg with a towel as teammates looked on in stunned silence. He was eventually taken off on a stretcher, giving the home crowd a thumbs up on his way to the locker room. Dunn was assessed a Flagrant 1 foul on the play.
The Thunder have yet to announce a diagnosis. After the game, head coach Mark Daigneault did not offer any specifics.
“We’re not doing great. That’s tough on the guys,” Daigneault said, per CBS Sports.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was also visibly emotional, fighting back tears when asked about his teammate. “I just feel bad for him. Nothing more than that,” he said.
Haliburton’s reaction carries extra weight given his own history. The Pacers star tore his right Achilles tendon in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the Thunder, a series in which Williams averaged 23.6 points and erupted for 40 in Game 5. Haliburton missed the entire 2025-26 season while recovering.

The Thunder and the rest of the NBA will now wait for an update on Williams’ status. Given how the injury looked, Oklahoma City could be facing an extended stretch without one of its most important players.
For now, the support is pouring in from around the league, including from a rival who once shared the Finals stage with him.
